High speed chase ends in Drug charges in Howell County

West Plains, MO – A high-speed chase last Thursday ended in drug charges for a Georgia man. Brandon T. Jones, 23 of Colquitt, GA., has been charged with three felonies in the incident.

The incident occurred on September 30, 2021 when a deputy with the Howell County Sheriff’s Office saw a vehicle heading towards Highway 160 on Luna Drive in West Plains. Brandon Jones failed to stop at a stop sign, failed to use a turn signal, and was driving all over the road at a high rate of speed on Luna Drive. During the pursuit, the Jones’ vehicle blew a tire and crashed into a ditch on 160.

Jones then fled the vehicle on foot but was caught by Deputy Dakota Millard and arrested. Deputy Millard found a bag of a white crystal-like substance in Jones pocket. Further investigation of Jones’ vehicle revealed another bag of the substance, a firearm and thousands of dollars.

Jones was charged with:

  • DELIVERY OF 35 GRAMS OR LESS OF MARIJUANA OR SYNTHETIC CANNABINOID 
  • RESISTING ARREST/DETENTION/STOP BY FLEEING – CREATING SUBSTANTIAL RISK OF INJURY/DEATH
  • UNLAWFUL USE OF WEAPON – SUBSECTION 11 – POSSESS WEAPON AND A FELONY CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE

His bond is $50,000.00 Cash or Surety.
