Ozark County, MO. – A female from Mountain Home drowned during a swim on the North Fork River on Saturday, July 13, 2024.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol boating report, the drowning occurred at 1:25 p.m. on the North Fork River, 0.5 miles south of Dawt Mill Bridge. 63-year-old Julia Monroe was swimming and reportedly tried to exit her inner tube and went under the water for a long period of time. She was recovered by a nearby swimmer and pronounced dead at Ozarks Healthcare at 2:13 p.m.

This is Troop G’s 3rd drowning for 2024 compared to 5 at this time last year. This incident was investigated by the Ozark County Sheriff’s Department, Sergeant A.R. Johnson, and Corporal J.R. Roberts of Troop G.
