Lyle Edwin Stillwell, a resident of Willow Springs, passed away late Thursday night, November 8, 2019 at Willow Care Nursing Home. Lyle was born April 9, 1932 to William E. and Elsie (Gregor) Stillwell in Vanzant, MO and was 87 years old.
Lyle grew up and attended the local schools in Douglas County, MO. After graduating from high school, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was in active combat and received the Purple Heart and other medals for his service and bravery. After he returned home from the military, Lyle worked at several local factories. He was employed in Cabool at the poultry plant, and later worked at the Willow Walnut Trophy plant in Willow Springs. He also worked at local sawmills, for the U.S. Forestry Service, was a foreman of a Line Service Co., and before he retired, he worked in maintenance at Willow Care Nursing Home. He was married on September 24, 1955 in Hernando, MS to Carolyn Sue Davis. In his younger years, he enjoyed woodworking. He also loved to watch the St. Louis Cardinals baseball games, singing with family and friends, and he especially loved family dinners. He will be greatly missed by his family, his friends, and all who knew him.
Lyle is preceded in death by his parents; his wife; three brothers; and one sister.
Lyle is survived by his daughter, Brenda Wake of Willow Springs; two sons, Jim Stillwell of Willow Springs, and Marty Stillwell of St. Louis, MO; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Lyle E. Stillwell will be held Friday, November 15, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Willow Funeral Home, LLC with Pastor James Brown officiating. Interment will be at the Holmes-Flatrock Cemetery in Douglas County with full military honors. Arrangements are under the direction of Willow Funeral Home, LLC.
