The Detention Center received a phone call around 10:43 am Sunday, Dec. 1 from a man who reportedly said, “You need to release all the prisoners”. The jailer that answered the phone asked the caller why, and the caller replied: “because the place is about to explode”.

When asked to repeat, the man said “have fun with that” and then hung up.

Patnou was identified as the suspect due to the number on the caller ID system matching a number that Patnou had provided when he had been booked into the jail on March 28, 2019. Jailers called the number back and received Patnou’s voicemail, according to the sheriff’s office.

The department says a deputy went to Patnou’s home and called the number again and heard the phone ring after Patnou answered the door naked and intoxicated.

He was arrested and held on $25,000 bond, and he will appear in court later this month.
