Official: Shopping local has big impact on city projects, services

WEST PLAINS, Mo. — Now that the Christmas season is in full swing communities across the region are urging residents to stay local and keep their money in their communities.

West Plains Economic Development Director Dave Bossemeyer told Ozark Radio News that the sales tax from shopping in the city helps fund a variety of projects and improvements:

The National Retail Federation says they estimate holiday retail sales for this year could be between $727.9 billion and $730.7 billion, or a roughly 4% increase over last year.
