Chip Ganassi Racing has now fired driver Kyle Larson after he was caught using a racial slur during a live-streamed virtual racing event Sunday night.
On Monday, the team had suspended Larson without pay, but yesterday, they went a step further and issued a statement that they were “ending their relationship” with Larson.
Sunday night, during the virtual race, Larson was heard saying “you can’t hear me? Hey, n—-r” while chatting to other participants during the race.

The firing may have come due to major sponsors like McDonald’s, Credit One and Clover announcing they were severing ties with Larson’s #42 car.
