Bob Joe Hummel

Bobby Joe “Bob” Hummel, a lifelong resident of Willow Springs, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2020 while at Mercy St. Francis Hospital in Mountain View. He was born January 24, 1942 to Quentin Victor Hummel and Lois Jean Cauldwell in Willow Springs and was 78 years old.

Bob grew up and attended school in Willow Springs, graduating with the Class of 1960. In 1962 he married the love of his life, Betty Sue Lawson at the home of Dr. Huitt in Willow Springs. He and Betty attended the Sabbath Day Church in Springfield. Bob was well known in the area for the dozer work he did for individuals as well as for other employers. He also ran a road grader for the township and cut brush along the county roads. When he wasn’t working, he loved to deer, turkey, and coon hunt. He also enjoyed trapping and fishing when time allowed. He spent many hours working in his garden, raising vegetables. He will be dearly missed by his family, his friends, and all who knew him.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Rod Hummel; grandson, Randy Hummel; and two brothers, Ed Cauldwell and Delbert “Corky” Cauldwell.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; daughter, Carla (Hummel) Tryon and husband Denny, and his brother, Kevin Hummel. He is further survived by four grandchildren: Preston, Justin, Levi and Kaden; six great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
