Third suspect charged in double homicide

UPDATE: The Howell County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has formally charged the third suspect in Tuesday’s double homicide.

Joey Allen Marcak has been charged as follows:

Two (2) counts Murder 1st Degree

Three (3) counts Armed Criminal Action

One (1) count Robbery 1st Degree

Marcak’s bond is set at $1,000,000 cash or corporate surety.

Investigators with the West Plains Police Department, Howell County Sheriff’s Office, the South Central Drug Task Force, and Missouri State Highway Patrol are continuing to investigate the double murder of Frankie L. Ziegler and Richard L. Kuntz that occurred on Tuesday, May 5, 2020.

Investigators arrested two suspects, Kyla R. Croney, age 34, and Levi Daniel Gunter, age 37,  just after midnight on May 7, 2020.

The West Plains Police Department then arrested Joey Allen Marcak, age 31, in the 1100 block of Lincoln Street on May 7, 2020 at 3:29 p.m.

The Howell County Prosecutor’s Office filed charges of two Counts of First-Degree Murder, two counts of Armed Criminal Action and one Attempted Robbery on Kyla Croney and Levi Daniel Gunter with bonds set at $500,000 each.  Charges on Joey Allen Marcak are pending.

The West Plains Police Department would also like to thank the Fulton County Arkansas Sheriff’s Department, the Salem Arkansas Police Department, and the Arkansas State Police for their assistance in the investigation that lead into Arkansas.
