Warm weather season is coming and not far behind is vehicle break-in season. Vehicle break-ins are a nuisance but they can turn into a much larger problem. A thief who gains access to a vehicle can easily gain access to a house if a garage door opener is present. If the keys are left in the vehicle, the thief can then take the valuables in the car along with the car.
Some tips to deter these car thieves are:
- Lock your vehicle doors.
- Lock them at home, at work, at the store, and anywhere else you would leave your vehicle unattended for any amount of time.
- Don’t leave the vehicle keys and/or valuable items in your vehicle
- Park Smart
- Park in busy, well-lit areas. Avoid concealment from larger vehicle, fences, tress, or bushes.
- If you see something, say something.
- Report suspicious activity to law enforcement.
