The West Plains Civic Center and West Plains Parks and Recreation have introduced phases 2 and 3 of their opening plans.
Civic Center Phase 2 (June-July 31): Events are being booked on a case by case basis. The Civic Center will determine if social distancing can be enforced dependent upon the event size and scope.
Sanitation continues to be top priority for staff and ensuring the safety for both customers and employees. Missouri State University-West Plains has additional staff to assist in disinfecting different areas of the center.
The doors will remain locked to the public and those wishing to use the fitness center or attend a scheduled event at the Civic Center are the only ones currently permitted in the building.
The pool will be open Monday-Friday for lap swimming from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and open swim from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The fitness center will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Civic Center will remain closed on the weekends. Occupancy is limited to 35 people in the pool area and 10 in the fitness center, including staff.
Parks & Recreation Phases 1-3: The West Plains Parks and Recreation have opened playground structures as of June 1. Social distancing and hygiene guidelines should be followed while using playground equipment. Pavilion rentals are allowed with followed guidelines.
Youth baseball and softball registration is open and adult softball registration will open June 8. Non-contact sport practices are allowed with social distancing and no scrimmaging. Contact sports are not allowed at this time.
The Sports Complex is open with a limited number of people allowed in the office at one time.
Phase 2 will begin June 15-June 30 and will allow practice for contact sports with a maximum of 12 per ground and a 50% occupancy limitation based on square footage.
Phase 3 will begin July 1-July 15 and adult basketball and volleyball will resume play with all other phased guidelines in place.
