West Plains Council on the Arts (WPCA) regrets to announce the 8th Annual BrewFest and 4th Annual AHA/BJCP sanctioned home brew competition scheduled for Saturday, August 1, 2020, is canceled due to continued vendor concerns caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We really appreciate the food and beverage providers who generously supported us over the years,” said organizer Terri Combs. “Without them, BrewFest would not be the event it has become. During this uncertain time, we believe canceling this year’s BrewFest gives them time to recover and lessens the risk of illness in our community. We’re hopeful everyone will be able to participate at our next scheduled BrewFest – March 13, 2021.”
Proceeds from the annual event fund numerous WPCA projects – art exhibits, theater performances, Community Messiah Sing, the Gatewood Family Fine Arts Scholarship, and especially the annual Old-Time Music, Ozark Heritage Festival. During this time of economic unease and state budget cuts, the loss of income from BrewFest is keenly felt.
Those who purchased tickets for the event, originally scheduled March 14, have several options for refunds. Tickets can be refunded, or the funds may be donated to WPCA – either as a direct donation, or to purchase a membership in WPCA. More information on membership is available by emailing info@westplainsarts.org.
Tickets purchased through the Civic Center Box Office will be refunded at that location beginning June 30. More information will be forthcoming from the Civic Center on that process.
Tickets purchased at other outlets will be refunded directly, by a representative of WPCA, at Bootleggers BBQ (2-4 p.m. June 30-July 2) or Wages Brewing (5-7 p.m. Tuesday June 30 and Thursday July 2).
Tickets can also be mailed to WPCA, P O Box 339, West Plains, MO 65775, and a check will be mailed for the refund amount.
WPCA thanks the community for their support of this annual event and looks forward to hosting next year.
