Due to work scheduled for the next calendar year to enhance Galloway Park, the Galloway board has announced that the annual Haunting in the Hollows is being cancelled for this year.
City of West Plains crews have been working to pave trails in the nature park after being awarded a Recreational Trails Program grant through the Land Water Conservation Fund. That work is expected to continue through early Fall, 2020.
The Galloway Park Board was also awarded funding recently as part of the Tourism Department’s Community Grant Program for the construction of some natural playscapes at the park. That work will be done in phases, with the first phase scheduled for completion by March, 2021.
Haunting in the Hollows is normally held on the third Saturday in October. The Galloway Park Board has expressed an interest in continuing with the event, and is currently looking for an organization to organize and run the day-long Halloween spectacular. Galloway Creek Nature Park is a 40 acre tract of land that has been developed into a recreational park. Galloway Creek, a 5.3 mile long tributary creek, runs through the property. The park is located at 2804 County Road 1770.
