Remains of sailor killed at Pearl Harbor returns home, funeral Wednesday

U.S. Navy Seaman 1st Class Orval Austin Tranbarger, a 20-year-old man from Mountain View, was one of the 429 crewmen  killed in the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor. His remains were unable to be identified until last year.

Michael Plum, Chaplain of the VFW Post 3009 in Mtn. View, told Ozark Radio News (ORN) that Tranbarger’s remains have returned home and will be buried alongside his parents.

Plum provided the following information:

Tranbarger’s funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Chapel Hill Cemetery, near Mountain View. The public is invited to the graveside service.

At 10 a.m., the procession will meet at Yarber Mortuary in Willow Springs and accompany the hearse to the cemetery.
