Bears Honored with Valley Academic Accolades

  1. LOUIS – A group of nearly 200 Missouri State student-athletes are among an elite crop of Missouri Valley Conference competitors announced Friday to the 2019-20 MVC Honor Roll.

 

Conference-wide, 118 student-athletes earned the league’s highest academic achievement by capturing the Missouri Valley Conference President’s Council Academic Excellence Award, including 12 from Missouri State: Lukas McCalla (Men’s Golf), Olina Einarsdottir (Women’s Soccer), Kaitlin Maxwell (Women’s Soccer), Mayleigh Oder (Women’s Soccer), Erin Griesbauer (Softball), Hannah Heinrichs (Softball) Darby Joerling (Softball), Payton Smith (Women’s Swimming & Diving), Jordyn Capra (Women’s Track & Field), Madeline Saville (Women’s Track & Field), Erica Wollmering (Women’s Track & Field), Gerri Idos (Volleyball).

The President’s Council Academic Excellence Award which requires a minimum 3.8 cumulative grade point average (through the spring 2020 semester), participation in athletics a minimum of two years, and the student-athlete must be within 18 hours of graduation.

 

Likewise, 63 Bears earned the prestigious Commissioner’s Academic Excellence Award. There were a total of 880 student-athletes in the MVC who earned this honor which requires a minimum GPA of 3.5 for the previous two semesters, a minimum 3.2 cumulative grade point average, and participation in athletics a minimum of two years.

The Missouri Valley Conference Honor Roll was also announced with 199 Missouri State student-athletes earning accolades for classroom excellence. To qualify for the Valley Honor Roll, a student-athlete must have recorded a minimum 3.2 grade point average for a specified term (fall 2018 and spring 2019), must have been a member of an athletics team, and must have been enrolled full time during the term they earned the honor.
