Elbern Carpenter

Elbern Carpenter, 93, of Mountain View, Missouri, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2020. He was born November 21, 1926, the son of George and Bertha (Williams) Carpenter. Elbern was united in marriage to Helen Edstrom and to this union, two children were born.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Isabelle Lafond; brother, Leonard Carpenter; and nephew, David Carpenter.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Carpenter of Mountain View, MO; daughter, Elizabeth Kirkpatrick and husband, Kevin of Marion, IL; son, Robert Carpenter of Marion, IL; grandson, Justin Parker and wife, Kelsey of Marion, IL; granddaughters, Jesica Smith and husband, Sean of Marion, IL and Jodi James and husband, Jeremy of Joliet, IL; great-grandchildren, Victoria Parker, Parker Smith and Bryant Smith of Marion, IL,  and Jessie James, Lilly James, and Jamie James of Joliet, IL; sister-in-law, Ann Zitter of Mountain View, MO; along with several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Elbern worked on the railroad until he joined the Navy in 1945. After returning home, he worked for Sears, Ropers, and even farmed a little before he retired and moved back to Mountain View, Missouri in 1988. He attended St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Mountain View, Missouri. He loved gardening, woodworking, and dancing with his wife.

Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2020, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Mountain View, Missouri with Father Rajarao Gona officiating, under the direction of Yarber Mortuary, Mountain View. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.  Interment with full Military Honors will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery White Church, Missouri.
