West Plains: Face coverings now required in city buildings

To help ensure the safety of City of West Plains staff and its citizens, face coverings must now be worn by any member of the public visiting City buildings.

City-owned buildings include West Plains City Hall (including the Police Department), the West Plains Civic Center, the Jimmie Carroll Sports Complex, the North Terra Golf Pro Shop, the West Plains Public Library, West Plains Animal Control, West Plains Regional Airport, all West Plains Fire Stations, the Transfer Station, and Recycling. Those riding in the City transit buses must also wear face masks.

Disposable masks will be made available to any citizen who does not have their own face covering.

City Administrator Tom Stehn said the City is requiring face coverings to help combat the spreading of COVID in the community, in addition to protecting the health and safety of citizens and City staff. The Howell County Health Department reports 306 active cases as of Wednesday, October 15, with 20 hospitalizations.
