Ronald Johnson, 77, of Eminence, Missouri passed away October 30, 2020 at his home. He was born May 15, 1943 in Corydon, Iowa to Ralph Johnson and Roberta (Hook) Johnson. He graduated from Corydon High School in 1961. During and after high school, Ron farmed the family farm in Corydon, Iowa, as well as custom farmed for others until 1985.
He was united in marriage to Marie Henley February 19, 1972, and to this union two children were born, Travis Johnson and Tammie Johnson. In 1985, he and his family relocated to Eminence, Missouri, where he and his wife, Marie, bought a convenience store and he worked for the Missouri Department of Conservation. Later Ron worked for the National Park Service until his retirement. During his years with the park service, he worked in La Junta, Colorado at Old Bent’s Fort and then at Alley Springs. Ron loved everything to do with the outdoors–hunting, fishing, exploring, and camping.
His grandchildren were his pride and joy and he loved to take them out exploring, fishing, and on camping trips. He looked forward to their visits each summer and all the adventures he could take them on. He was a devoted, husband, dad, grandpa, and friend.
Ron is preceded in death by his father, Ralph Johnson, his mother, Roberta Silcott, and his sister Kay Johnson.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Johnson of the home; son, Travis Johnson of Eminence, Missouri; his daughter, Tammie Johnson (Rick Kunzie) of Winterset, Iowa; grandson, Colton Brazeal of Corydon, Iowa; granddaughter, Lexi Brazeal of Corydon, Iowa; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at Yarber Mortuary, Eminence, Missouri with Pastor Paul Wellinghoff officiating. Visitation will be Monday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. Interment will be held Thursday, November 5 in Corydon, Iowa. Memorials may be made to Parkinson’s Group of the Ozarks.
