Philip Bovat

Philip Bovat, 78, of Isabella, MO died January 23, 2021 at Gainesville Healthcare Center. Philip was a longtime resident of Vermont prior to he and his wife moving to Missouri in 2018 to be closer to their daughter and grandchildren. Philip was born in Fairfield, VT on August 10, 1942 son of the late Clarence and Laura (Langevin) Bovat. Philip was a retired farmer and carpenter.

Philip is survived by his wife Susan (Webb) Bovat of 58 years; his son Donald P. Bovat of Fairfield, VT; his daughter Norma (Bovat) Fortin and her husband Arthur Fortin of Isabella, MO; his granddaughter Leah (Fortin) Tatera and her husband Ricky Tatera of Gainesville, MO; great granddaughter Violet Kennedy Tatera; sisters in law Betty, Muriel and Opal Bovat; several nieces and nephews which he would call each one of them his favorite. He held a special place in his heart for all of them. He also left behind many cousins whom he thought dearly of.

Philip was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Ronald, Alan, Larry and Lawrence Bovat; sisters Lorraine Bicknell and Arlene Couillard; grandson Shane Fortin who is now sharing his favorite fishing hole with his grandfather to see who can catch the biggest fish. Fishing was a passion they both loved. For those that had the honor of knowing Philip knew that he loved to hunt and fish. Philip loved being around his family. He liked a good argument and loved to complain. He loved having family around to tell stories of his younger days. He had a heart that reached out to many over the years. He will be missed dearly.

In accordance with Philip’s wishes there will be no service or calling hours. There will be a celebration of life held at a later time in Vermont to honor the memory of Philip. Donations can be made to a favorite charity of your choice in Philips memory.
