The matchup

• Mizzou hits the road for back-to-back SEC series, beginning with a three-game stint at South Carolina. The Tigers trail the all-time series 14-10 against the Gamecocks.

• All 24 meetings in the series have come in the SEC-era for Mizzou.

• The Tigers are 6-6 against South Carolina under coach Bieser.

• Mizzou swept the most recent series in 2019 at Taylor Stadium. The home team has taken each of the past six series.

WEEKEND TURNAROUND

• After dropping the opening game of the series against Texas A&M 16-2, Mizzou rebounded to earn its first SEC series win of the year.

• The Tigers earned an 8-2 win on Saturday behind a career day on the mound for Seth Halvorsen. Sunday featured a come-from-behind effort with Mizzou scoring five times in the sixth to pull away.

• The series win was Mizzou’s first over the Aggies as SEC foes (0-3-1 in prior series).

• In the final two games of the series, Mizzou pitching held Texas A&M to just .194 hitting while producing a 2.50 ERA in 18 innings.

HALVORSEN BRINGS THE HEAT

• Not only did redshirt sophomore Seth Halvorsen hit triple digits on the radar gun in his game two start against Texas A&M, the right-hander also put together his best start in a Mizzou uniform.

• After surrendering a two-run homer in the third inning, Halvorsen allowed just a single in finishing out a career-long 7.0 innings of work.

• Halvorsen fanned a career-best 10 Aggies while walking just three in his 111-pitch outing.

• Friday’s stellar day against the Aggies marked Halvorsen’s second quality start in three SEC appearances this season. He allowed just three runs in 6.0 innings at Kentucky on March 20.

TORIN DELIVERS AGAIN

• Sophomore first baseman Torin Montgomery provided the pivotal blow in Saturday’s finale against Texas A&M, a three-run blast to right center in the sixth to give Mizzou a 7-3 lead.

• The long ball was Montgomery’s fourth of the season, tied for the team lead. The runs brought his RBI total to 18 on the season, also a team high.

• In eight SEC games played (7 starts), Montgomery leads the Tigers with seven RBI and a pair of homers.

• Montgomery went 2-for-3 with a pair of walks in the series finale against Texas A&M, his third multi-hit game of the season. It was also his team-best fifth multi-RBI game.
