Ava, MO – A two vehicle crash on the evening of June 11, 2021 has taken the life of a Squires, Mo. woman. On Friday evening at approximately 5:36PM on Highway 5 north of Ava, a southbound 2017 Ford F150, driven by Elmert Wall, 32 of Ava, Mo., crossed the centerline of the highway, striking a 2007 Pontiac Solstice driven by Julie Freeman, 53 of Squires, Mo. The accident forced both vehicles off the roadway. Freeman was pronounced dead at the scene by Douglas County Coroner Rick Miller at 7:25PM. Wall and his child passenger were taken to Cox South Hospital in Springfield.
The accident was investigated by Trooper W. Wadlington of MSHP Troop G with the assistance of SGT. L. Eilliot, Douglas County Sheriff’s department and the Ava Police Department. This is Troop G’s 14th fatality as compared to 13 fatalities on this date in 2020.
