Car crashes & overturns near West Plains Civic Center

West Plains, MO – On Friday, July 16, 2021 at approximately 12:35 PM, Officers of the West Plains Police Department and West Plains Fire Department responded to a one vehicle crash on St. Louis Street near the West Plains Civic Center. 

Upon arrival, first responders found a vehicle facing northbound on its top with the driver of the vehicle trapped inside.  Upon the twenty-seven-year-old driver being freed from the vehicle he was transported by ambulance to Ozark Health Care in serious condition.

The investigation of the crash determined that the 2006 Pontiac G6 was traveling north on St. Louis Street.  The vehicle traveled off the roadway striking a light pole and then traveled sixty-three feet north in the parking lot of the West Plains Civic Center along the sidewalk.  The vehicle then struck an electric transformer box one hundred and three feet from where it impacted the utility pole.

The Pontiac returned to the roadway, missing a second light pole, and overturned coming to rest on its top.  The crash is still under investigation.
