Gainesville, MO – On the evening of July 29, the Ozark County Sheriff received information that Matthew Paul Deever was at a residence in the Tecumseh area. Mr. Deever has active felony warrants out of Greene and Webster Counties.
Sheriff Cass Martin, Sgt. Brown, Deputy Boatner and Deputy Daffron, along with his partner K9 Rye, surrounded the location and made contact with a female inside the residence.
The property owner and the female inside the gave consent for deputies to search the residence for Mr. Deever.
In the initial search, Deever was not located, but a trap-door in the floor leading to an area under the residence was discovered. Sgt. Brown entered the area and located Deever hiding behind a small structure under the residence and suffering from a large cut to his arm that occurred when he attempted to go through the trap-door to hide from deputies.
Matthew Paul Deever was then taken into custody without incident. First aid was rendered on-scene by deputies for his injury and he was later transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Deever is currently being held in the Ozark County Jail awaiting transport to Greene County.

Leaving Scene of Accident – Property Damage Exceeding $1000 – FELONY E
Driving While Revoked/Suspended – 2nd or 3rd Offense – Misdemeanor A
Resisting/Interfering With Arrest, Detention or Stop

Resisting/Interfering With Arrest For a Felony (Tampering with a Motor Vehicle) – FELONY E
Operate Vehicle on Highway Without a Valid License – Misdemeanor D
