Richard “Dick” Brown

Richard Leon “Dick” Brown was born March 4, 1938 in Thayer, Missouri, the son of Burt Thomas Brown and Annie Warren Brown, and departed this life on August 7, 2021 in Thayer, Missouri at the age of 83.

He was united in marriage on July 1, 1989 to Vestol Wilburn.

Dick is survived by his wife, Vestol Brown of the home in Thayer, Missouri; two daughters, Pamela Hunter and Kim Brown; one step-daughter, Donna Musser; one sister Alpha Lee Erhardt; two grandchildren, Erica Skinner and Jason Redburn; two special grandchildren, Kylie Price and Natalyn Price; two great grandchildren, Wyatt Redburn and Henry Redburn; special friends, Paul and Sue Scott and their family; other relatives; and countless friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Burt and Annie Brown; and one brother, Thomas Max Brown.

Dick graduated from Thayer High School.  After graduating he proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy.

He trained as a barber and owned a barber shop in Thayer, Missouri for many years.  After retiring, he continued to cut hair for some clients in his home.

Dick was a Christian and of the Church of God faith.

He liked to ride horses and owned some while living in the country outside Thayer.  Dick was also very artistic and repaired saddles.

Dick also enjoyed fishing and was an avid coon hunter.  He also liked yard sales and flea markets.

He will truly be missed by his family and many friends.

Funeral services for Richard “Dick” Brown will be held on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri with Robbie Bonser officiating.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to service time at Carter Funeral Home in Thayer, Missouri.

Burial will be on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 in Rose Hill Cemetery in Thayer, Missouri with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer, Missouri.
