Mountain Grove, MO – A 9-year-old boy was killed in a one-vehicle crash on 13th Road, one mile west of Mountain Grove, Missouri.
The accident occurred Sunday afternoon at 4:10 p.m. in Wright County. A westbound 2008 Chevy Silverado driven by Gabriel Ruiz, 31 of Mountain Grove, traveled off the left side of the road, struck a dirt embankment and overturned, partially ejecting the 9-year-old male passenger. Ruiz suffered moderate injuries in the crash and was taken by ambulance to Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains. The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene by Wright County Coroner Ben Hurtt.
This makes Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop G’s 23rd fatality for 2021, compared to 32 at the same time last year. This accident was investigated by Master Sergeant R. Vaughn with the assistance of Crash Team Sergeant B. Gruben.
