Ava, MO – A teen from Ava was killed in a one-vehicle crash Friday night near Norwood, Missouri. The accident occurred on Old U.S. 60, 3 miles east of Norwood at 9:20 p.m. October 22, 2021.
An eastbound 2010 Hyundai Sonata driven by Mason Duckett, 19 of Ava, failed to negotiate a right turn, running off the left side of the road, striking a tree, and overturned.

Duckett was pronounced dead at the scene by Wright County Coroner Ben Hurtt at 10:19 p.m. He had not been wearing a safety device.
This accident was investigated by Trooper J. Dedmon with the assistance of Corporal D. Huffman and Trooper J. Sentman of Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop G. This makes Troop G’s 28th fatality for 2021 compared to 34 at this same time in 2020.
