West Plains, Mo. – Veterans and their families are invited to Central Calvary Baptist Church on Sunday, November 14, for a Veterans Appreciation service and “dinner on the grounds.”
Ozark Radio News spoke with Pastor Jerry Sousley about the upcoming event:
World War II Veteran Billy Joe Cawthron, U.S. Marine Corps, will tell about some of his experiences on Iwo Jima as a young Marine. Billy landed on Iwo Jima in the First Wave on February 19, 1945, and remained to the end of the battle. His Division left the next day, on March 27. Although numerous Marine-buddies were killed or wounded, Billy miraculously did not receive any wounds.
Evangelist Tom Williams, known as “The Cowboy Preacher,” will be the keynote speaker. With more than 50 years of experience as an evangelist, counselor, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Dr. Williams has counseled thousands of couples and individuals throughout America as well as in several foreign countries.
The Sunday morning service will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by a free lunch for everyone present.
