Howell County Offices Christmas & New Year’s Schedule

Tax Payments Due December 31

West Plains, Mo. – The Howell County Courthouse and Howell County Office Building on Court Square in West will be closed on Christmas Eve, Friday, December 24, and New Year’s Eve, Friday, December 31, this year. In making the announcement, Howell County Presiding commissioner Mark Collins said all offices will re-open at 8:30 a.m. on the Monday following each holiday.

In a related announcement, Howell county Collector Dennis Von Allmen said that, except for being closed on Christmas Eve, the collector’s office will be open for those paying taxes Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through December 31. He reminded tax payers the last day to pay taxes without a penalty is Friday, December 31.

There are several methods of payments available to taxpayers:

  • In person at the County Collector’s Office located in the Howell County Office Building on the square in downtown West Plains.
  • By mail, online, telephone, or overnight drop box located outside of the front door of the Howell County Office Building. A credit/Debit card is necessary for online and telephone transactions. For online payments, visit www.HowellCountyCollector.com and follow the prompts. For telephone payments, follow the instructions on your tax statement.
  • Taxpayers are able to pay at the West Plains Bank branches located in Willow Springs and Mountain View.

Von Allmen added, “Taxpayers with questions about a tax bill may come by the office located in the Howell County Office Building on Court Square in West Plains or call (417) 256-4001.
