West Plains, MO. – The City of West Plains is pleased to announce and invites the public to participate in the 5K @ Galloway. The 5k run or walk will be held Saturday, April 23 at Galloway Creek Nature Park, 2183 County Road 1770. The race is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. with an awards ceremony set for 9:30 a.m.
Following the 5K, a Galloway Fun Day will be from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. The Fun Day will have information booths featuring healthy lifestyle and activities for the whole family. Refreshments will be available from a food truck on location.
“We are very excited to bring a 5K to Galloway Park,” said West Plains Tourism Coordinator Melissa Wharton. “This idea came from Galloway Park Board Member Jack Bates. It’s a way to show off the newly paved trails and invite the community to get reacquainted with the park or even visit it for the first time.”
Registration forms for the 5K are available at the Ozarks Heritage Welcome Center, 2999 Porter Wagoner Blvd. or register online at: actnowracing.com/events/722/5k-at-galloway.
5K registration fee is $35 and includes commemorative t-shirt, water bottle, cooling towel, custom medal, and bib. Plaques will be awarded to overall male and female winner and top three in each of the following groups: 10 & under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 & up. Participants will be limited to 300 people. Day of registration begins at 7 a.m.
In addition, a virtual 5K option is available. Registration for the virtual 5K is $50 and items will be mailed to the participant.
Booths are free to organizations and businesses that have health, wellness, or activities for kids and adults.
