Grizzlies Gala Tonight at the West Plains Civic Center

WEST PLAINS, Mo. – Tonight, Grizzly fans will celebrate the athletic accomplishments of the 2021-2022 season at the Missouri State University-West Plains’ (MSU-WP) Grizzlies Gala: Promoting Excellence in Athletics at the West Plains Civic Center.

Dr. Gary Bates is the keynote speaker for the tonight’s Gala. A long-time educator and native of West Plains, Dr. Bates is now the superintendent of schools at Fort Sam Houston Independent School District in San Antonio, Texas, a position he has held since August 2018.

The event will begin at 6 p.m. with a catered meal and auction in the West Plains Civic Center exhibit hall.

At 8 p.m., season reviews and updates from the Grizzly Basketball, Volleyball and Cheer Teams, as well as an awards ceremony and special announcements, will take place in the civic center theater.

“Our team worked hard this year, and we’re so grateful for the community support we receive,” said Grizzly Basketball Head Coach Jared Phay.

“We had a tremendous season this past year, and it doesn’t happen without the support we receive from the community and our fans,” said Grizzly Volleyball Head Coach Paula Wiedemann. “We have the best fans, and the support we receive is absolutely vital to our success. We have so much appreciation for all the love shown to our program.”

Tickets are $65 each, or a table of six can be reserved for $400. Proceeds will go toward scholarships and other program needs, organizers said.
