SIKESTON—The Missouri Department of Transportation plans to improve Route 160 in Howell and Oregon Counties.
The proposed project includes the following:
- Widening two box culverts located east of Allen Street in West Plains, Missouri and upgrading the guardrail
- Overlaying Route 160 from Business Route 63 in West Plains, Missouri to Route 99 in Oregon County
- Adding edgeline rumble stripes from Allen Street in West Plains, Missouri to Route 99 in Oregon County
- Intersection improvements at Route BB in West Plains, Missouri
- The intersection improvements will include widening, adding a right turn lane on Route BB, adding an acceleration lane to merge onto Route 160 and constructing a concrete median with a stop sign.
The project is expected to be let in early 2023, with construction beginning as early as spring 2023.
As construction is underway, Route 160 and Route BB will be reduced to a single lane at times with flaggers present to guide traffic through the work zones.
Completion is anticipated in summer 2024.
