Celebrate the end of the school year at a free movie showing at the West Plains Civic Center

WEST PLAINS, Mo. – The 2021-2022 school year is drawing to a close, and what better way to celebrate than watching a free movie!

The University/Community Programs (U/CP) Department at Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) will host its Summer Kick-Off Movie Night May 10 at the West Plains Civic Center theater.

The fun begins at 6:30 p.m. when the curtain rises on a classic PG-rated comedy adapted from Hal Roach’s “Our Gang” series.

This 1994 film features the antics of the bumbling “He Man Woman Hater’s Club” as they race through a summer of shenanigans in an effort to win the community go-cart race.

Club member Alfalfa finds himself in even greater dire straits when he is forced to choose between his loyalty to the club or his cute girlfriend, Darla.

“For nearly a century, the stories of Alfalfa, Darla, Spanky and the gang have entertained audiences far and wide, and the updated 1994 version of their tales will not disappoint,” said U/CP Director Brenda Polyard. “We hope you will join us as we close out our spring season and prepare to enter another fun-filled summer.”
