West Plains, MO. – The West Plains Police Department is on the lookout for a vehicle involved in an early morning hit-and-run accident near the intersection of Highway 63 and Elmore Drive/K Highway.
Officers on the scene found a 19-year old man lying in the grass near the shoulder of the road. He had been cycling at 5:43 a.m. when he was struck by a red four door passenger car, possibly a Pontiac Bonneville. The bicycle had been drug by the car for nearly 100 feet following the impact. The man was transported to Ozarks Healthcare for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.
