(Ava, MO.) The Missouri Department of Transportation will host a public meeting this Wednesday from 4 to 6 pm to discuss construction of a new roundabout in Ava.
The meeting will be held at Ava City Hall at 405 S. Jefferson.
The proposed project includes construction of a new roundabout at the intersection of route 14 and Business 5, North Jefferson Street and Bacorn Avenue. This project will also include drainage and pedestrian improvement. This will replace the current roundabout at that location.
Most of the roundabout can be constructed with minimal impacts to traffic. MoDOT says it would be beneficial to close the intersection as the portion of the new roundabout that overlaps the existing roadway is constructed and as tie-ins are made to the existing roadway. Currently, MoDOT is exploring options for traffic control, including a potential closure during certain stages of construction.
Construction is expected to begin in the summer of 2023 with completion in November of 2023.
