Kobe Brown Earns Preseason All-SEC Honors

Birmingham Ala. – Senior Kobe Brown of the Missouri men’s basketball team was recognized as one of the top players in the Southeastern Conference on Wednesday, collecting first-team preseason all-conference accolades.

Brown was one of nine student-athletes earning first-team All-SEC honors, as voted on by the league’s head coaches. The senior is coming off a season where he led the Tigers in scoring (12.5 points per game), rebounding (7.6 per game) and steals (40), while ranking second in assists (81) during the 2021-22 campaign. He also set career highs in field goal percentage (48.1), free-throw percentage (79.5) and blocks (28) as a junior. Brown was especially strong in Mizzou victories, averaging 18.6 points and 9.5 boards – highlighted by a 30-point, 13-rebound performance in a win over No. 15 Alabama.

Entering his fourth season on campus, Brown has accumulated 796 points and 525 rebounds during his career.

A second-team all-conference selection following the 2021-22 campaign, Brown is the first Tiger to earn first-team preseason accolades in five years when Michael Porter, Jr. received the honor prior to the 2017-18 campaign.

Brown and the Tigers officially open the 2022-23 campaign on Monday (Nov. 7) with a home tilt versus Southern Indiana.
