Houston, MO. – An Ava man that is charged with sexual offenses against minors is currently free after posting $500,000 bond.
Calvin Cornelius, age 36 of Ava, was arrested on October 17 by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office on charges of 1st Degree Statutory Sodomy – Deviate Sexual Intercourse with a Person Less Than 14 Years Old. Cornelius posted bond on October 24 according to online court documents.
The accused will go before the Texas County Court on November 22, 2022 for a trial setting.
This arrest is not the only case currently against Cornelius that involves sexual offenses with a minor. The Ava man is also facing charges of 1st Degree Rape, 1st Degree Statutory Rape, 1st Degree Child Molestation, Incest, and two counts of Statutory Sodomy from a 2018 case in Texas County that has a jury trial scheduled for January 5, 2023.
