West Plains Resident Injured After Truck vs Livestock Crash

West Plains, MO. – On November the 10th, one resident from West Plains was seriously injured after a collision with farm animals on the roadway.

John Atzert, 55 of West Plains, was driving a 2013 Chevy Silverado Southbound on Highway E when this collision occurred at 5:55pm. It appears local livestock had escaped their enclosure and were on the roadway, causing the Silverado to strike multiple cows and a goat.

Atzert was uninjured in the crash, but a passenger, Alychia Wilkins, 53 of West Plains, was seriously injured and was transported to Ozarks Healthcare for treatment. Neither Wilkins nor Atzert were wearing their safety devices. The Silverado was totaled in the accident.

This accident was investigated by Trooper A.K. Falterman of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Troop G.
