Have your cattle been spooked by a plane recently? This might be the culprit…

West Plains, MO. – Some people in Oregon and Shannon Counties have recently had complaints about a low flying plane spooking their cattle, causing some damage to fences. The Missouri State Highway Patrol have looked into the matter and may have found the cause.

A company, EON Geosciences, are flying large fixed-wing aeromagnetic and radiometric (gamma-ray spectrometry) surveys in the area. Radiometric surveys detect and map natural radioactive emanations, called gamma rays, from rocks and soils. All detectable gamma radiation from earth materials come from the natural decay products of only three elements, i.e. uranium, thorium, and potassium.
