Women’s Basketball to Host Illinois State in WNIT Opening Round

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Women’s Basketball team will host Illinois State at 7 p.m. Thursday in the first round of the Women’s National Invitational Tournament, as announced by the selection committee on Monday afternoon. The contest will be broadcast on SECN+ and KTGR.

For Missouri, it is the third-consecutive appearance in the field and the program’s 10th postseason appearance in the last 11 years. The Tigers enter the tournament with a 17-13 record including a 6-10 mark against Southeastern Conference opponents.

Missouri is 5-10 all-time in the WNIT after dropping an opening-round contest to Drake a season ago.

Senior forward Hayley Frank, an All-SEC Second Team selection, leads the Tigers with 15.3 points per game this year.

All-SEC Freshman Team honoree Ashton Judd has had a standout first season for the Black and Gold as the West Plains, Mo. native is averaging 7.4 points and ranks second in the SEC in 3-point percentage at 45.9%.

Missouri is one of four teams from the SEC in this year’s field.

Fans interested in purchasing tickets for the first-round game at Mizzou Arena should call 1-800-CAT-PAWS starting Tuesday morning at 8 a.m. CT to reserve their seats. Season ticket holders will have the option to purchase their same seats with remaining seats in Mizzou Arena on sale at the same time.
