Two injured in Thursday morning crash near West Plains

West Plains, MO. – Two people from West Plains are being treated following a rollover crash Thursday morning on Highway 63. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the crash occurred at 7:50 a.m. five miles South of West Plains.

A northbound 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac driven by Kenneth Manes, age 65, struck a dog in the roadway and traveled off the left side of the roadway. The truck then struck a mailbox, overturning, and ejecting the passenger, Penny Manes, age 57.

The driver had been wearing a seatbelt and suffered minor injuries. He was taken by ambulance to Ozarks Healthcare for treatment. Penny Manes had not been wearing a seatbelt and suffered serious injuries from being ejected. She was transported by air ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Springfield.
