Harold Mitchell was born June 26, 1938 to Marshall and Geneva (Solomon) Mitchell. He passed away to Heaven on April 8, 2023 at home with his family by his side.
Harold & Mary Sawyer were united in marriage on September 29, 1957. To this union, three children were born; Wanda, Donna and Dean. Harold & Mary were married 56 years until Mary went to Heaven in 2014.
Harold worked at Ava Oil Company & O’Reilly Automotive until he retired at age 67. Harold and his wife Mary enjoyed traveling all over the United States and going to music shows in Branson. Harold loved fishing and fished in many tournaments with his son Dean. He also liked hunting and watching racing, and the Cardinals and Chiefs play. He loved family cookouts and spending time with his family and he adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Harold had a big heart and always wanted to take care of all his family.
Harold was a Christian and attended church with his mom as a child. He considered Buddy as his Pastor.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Mary Mitchell; brother, Verl Mitchell; sisters Crystal Stacy & Lulabell Hale; father & mother Marshall & Geneva Mitchell.
He is survived by his children and their spouses: Wanda and Dan Johnson; Donna and Kevin Taber; and Dean and Shelley Mitchell. He is also survived by his grandchildren and their spouses: Whittney and Martin Baldwin; Jessica and Brady Choat; Jared Mitchell; Brandy Johnson and Kyle Corcoran; Joseph Taber; Frank Johnson; Steven Johnson; Brett and Kylie Mitchell; Brittney Inman; and Brianna Burton. He is also survived by his great grandchildren: Autumn; Hunter; Sophia; Josephine; AnnaBelle; Kirah; Colton; Paislee; Waylon; and Grace. Additionally he is survived by his sister Cathy Green; his brothers and spouses, Ross and Roxie Mitchell, Darrell and Donetta Mitchell; as well as several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Funeral services for Harold will be Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, MO with burial following in the Bethel Cemetery at McClurg. Visitation will be prior to the service on Wednesday at 9:00 A.M. Officiating will be Pastor Buddy Boyd. Family requests donations to Bethel Cemetery.
