Eugene “Bud” Hough of Mountain Home, Arkansas, passed away March 25, 2023, in Mountain Home at the age of 85. He was born October 24, 1937, in LaPorte, Indiana.
Bud married his “Funny Valentine”, Barbara Hough, on February 14, 1976, in Michigan City, Indiana. She survives. Also, surviving are Bud’s two daughters, Shereen (Scott) Allison and Kathy (Matt) Giloth; one stepson, Matthew Tracy; seven grandchildren, Krystal, Jennifer, Danielle, David, Amber, Jasmine and Allysia and twelve great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Frances (Shaw) Hough; two sisters, Cheryl Rizek and Phyllis Tuholski; one brother, Denny Heim and one stepson, Michael Tracy.
Bud was nicknamed by his dad at birth. He was a graduate of North Liberty Indiana High School and an avid Notre Dame fan. Bud enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. He was a graduate of Purdue University Northwest and a recipient of numerous business related certificates. At retirement, Bud was a warehouse supervisor for T.P. Orthodontics in Westville, Indiana.
Bud and Barb moved from Michigan City, Indiana to Mountain Home in May of 2000. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Mountain Home. Bud had many hobbies that included music (vinyl records and CDs being number one). He made hundreds of CDs from his huge collection of vinyl records. He supported all sports with Notre Dame football being his favorite. Bud was a Master Gardner and thoroughly enjoyed his yard work, puzzles, westerns, historical biographies and Bible study at First Presbyterian Church.
Bud had a happy and active retirement until Parkinson’s disease took away the spring in his step, the light in his eyes and some cognitive abilities. Bud could talk for hours about Rock Steady Boxing, a non-contact boxing program for people with Parkinson’s disease.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate his life on Friday, April 21, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 1106 Spring Street, Mountain Home, AR 72653 with Reverend Mike Clark officiating.
