Missouri State University Board Approves Tuition Price Increases Next Semester

West Plains, MO. – Those attending this next coming semester, covering 2023 to 2024, at the MSU-WP campus, will be seeing a slight change to their tuition fees, according to a recent release from the local college.

Tuition fees have been approved for an increase from the Missouri State University Board of Governors during their latest April 19th meeting in Springfield. The price increase will be going up a total of $8; which means the total credit hour increase will be $141 to $149. Out-of-state students will be seeing an increase of double this amount, which means their total increase will measure up to $298 per credit hour.

Dennis Lancaster, the Chancellor of MSU-WP has stated that the primary reason for this increase has been inflationary pressures which include price hikes on custodial supplies, utilities, insurance, and personnel costs.

Nursing classes will be seeing an increase on prices to $194 per credit hour for in-state students, and $388 for out-of-state students. Housing fees will go up 2% this year, increasing to $6,626 to live in the residence hall for two semesters.

This cost increase will also be affecting online credit hours and other fees, including “The Common Fee” for student and administrative activities.

Not affected by these increases will be dual-credit hours for area high-school students participating.
