Law Enforcement “Click It or Ticket” campaign begins Monday

Gainesville, MO. – Sheriff Cass Martin and the Ozark County Sheriff’s Office are joining forces with law enforcement agencies across Missouri from May 22 – June 4, 2023, for a “Click It or Ticket” campaign.

Did you know? More than 5 in 10 fatalities in Missouri traffic accidents in 2022 involved individuals not wearing seat belts. Despite advances in vehicle safety, a seat belt remains the single most effective safeguard in a crash.

While Missouri has seen an improvement in seat belt usage in the last five years, it still trails behind the national average. Missouri’s seat belt usage is 88.87%, whereas the national average is 91.6%. Notably, teens and pick-up truck drivers are less likely to buckle up with usage at 71.8% and 74.4% respectively.

Every day, lives are lost on Missouri roads because people choose not to buckle up. We’re stepping up our efforts to ensure everyone makes the safe, smart choice – to always buckle up.
