The St. Louis Blues currently have nine selections at the 2023 NHL Draft, which will be held June 28-29 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.
Those nine picks will include three in the first round – the most since the team also had three selections at the 2007 NHL Draft.
The Blues were selected to receive the No. 10 pick at the NHL Draft Lottery on May 8, and also acquired No. 25 and No. 76 in the deal that sent Ryan O’Reilly and Noel Acciari to the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Blues also acquired Dallas’ No. 29 pick from the New York Rangers in the trade that sent Vladimir Tarasenko and Niko Mikkola to New York.
The Blues will not have a second-round pick due to a March 2022 trade with the Detroit Red Wings that brought Nick Leddy to St. Louis.
Although subject to change, below is a breakdown of where the Blues expect to pick when General Manager Doug Armstrong and his staff head to Nashville.
Round 1 – No. 10, No. 25, No. 29
Round 2 – None
Round 3 – No. 74, No. 76
Round 4 – No. 106
Round 5 – No. 138
Round 6 – No. 170
Round 7 – No. 202
The last time the Blues held three first-round picks, they selected Lars Eller (No. 13), Ian Cole (No. 18) and David Perron (No. 26) in 2007. This was the only previous time in franchise history that the team made three picks in the opening round.
Recent first-round picks include Jimmy Snuggerud (2022, No. 23), Zachary Bolduc (2021, No. 17) and Jake Neighbours (2020, No. 26). The Blues have drafted a forward with each of their last eight first-round picks.
