Willow Springs, MO. – With Independence Day fast approaching, new changes are coming to the Willow Springs 4th of July celebration. To help understand the new events and paperwork, News Team 7 spoke with Willow Springs Chamber of Commerce Director Kim McCormick:
A number of events will be happening the morning of the 4th, including a 5k, a unique challenge, and a pancake breakfast.
The “I Ran From The Cops” 5k will be held on July 4th with registration at 6 a.m. and the race beginning at 7 a.m. The cost to participate is $30 and benefits the Willow Springs Police Department and the Chamber.
A SWAT Challenge will also be held by the W.S.P.D. This event includes an Active Shooter Sprint, Officer Rescue, Equipment Carry, Obstacle Climb, and a run. The cost to participate in this event is $30 with registration at 6 a.m. and starts at 7 a.m. Participants will meet at Palenske Field for both events.
A Pancake Breakfast will be held by the Willow Springs Fire Department. Donations will be taken for the MDA Fill The Boot campaign. The breakfast begins at 7 a.m. at Palenske Field.
Among the many changes, the Willow Springs 4th of July parade will require participants to register for the event. Registration forms can be found at the Chamber of Commerce or Willow Springs City Hall. For those who had not registered prior to July 4th but want to participate, a limited number of registration forms will be available at Booster Field, which is the line-up location.
