Howell County Sheriff’s Office Arrest Leads to Discovery of Explosive Devices

West Plains, MO. – The Howell County Sheriff’s Office issued a statement late last night pertaining to the discovery of what are called “Improvised Explosive Devices” after an arrest was made during the early morning hours of Sunday, July the 9th.

According to the statement, this incident began at roughly 1am when Deputies Millard and Thomas were searching for a wanted individual. They discovered what they call a suspicious vehicle in the area and began to investigate. It was discovered a passenger had an active warrant, and it was witnessed that an object was tossed from the vehicle.

A brief search led to the discovery of multiple improvised explosive devices. The Missouri State Highway Patrol Bomb Squad was called in from Jefferson City, and upon arrival at 5am, the devices were dealt with.

Investigation is on-going on this case. The identities of those involved has not been revealed.
