– Paty Figueiredo, head coach of the Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) Grizzly Volleyball team has announced the signing of a middle blocker from Texas.
She is 5-foot, 9-inch Ambria Rupp from Austin, who played for Dripping Springs High School and the Texas Fury Volleyball club team.
“We were looking to add one more strong middle blocker to our roster, and Ambria was a great surprise,” Figueiredo said. “We connected with her previous coaches, and they had great things to say about Ambria and her commitment to the team and the game.
“She understands the work it takes for a team to be successful,” the coach added. “She is an aggressive hitter and reads the game very well, which will help our defensive system. She will definitely add competition to the position. We are excited to have her on our team and look forward to seeing her this week.”
Rupp said the Grizzlies’ team approach and family atmosphere drew her to the program. “Learning that we focus more on teamwork and the idea of working together appealed to me, that and how the program feels like family,” she said.
Grizzly fans will be excited by Rupp’s hard work ethic. “I push myself to work hard, especially if it’s something I’m not comfortable doing. I will still work hard to make sure I do it right,” she explained.
