Charges Filed Against One in the Stabbing Death of a Marshfield Man

Marshfield, MO. – A teen has been charged for the death of a Marshfield man in an event that happened back in June.

The victim in the case was 52-year-old Shawn Ellingburg, a Marshfield resident who was checking in on an elderly neighbor on Wednesday, June 28th. Reports state Ellingburg was involved in an altercation that spilled from the residence before he was stabbed to death by a pair of teens, who then left him on the driveway and fled.

One of the attackers, identified as Thomas Keith Smith Jr., has since been charged with 2nd Degree Murder and Armed Criminal Action, and appears to be carrying a third separate charge around the same date for Possession of a Controlled Substance.
