Robert Ellis Comer, 72 years, 5 months, 13 days old, passed peacefully to Heaven on August 23, 2023 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri with his family by his side.
Bob was born March 10, 1951 in Springfield, MO to John Paul and Leona Mae (Silvey) Comer.
He grew up in the Douglas County in the Brownbranch community. He graduated from Ava High School in 1969. Bob started preaching at the age of 17 years old.
On August 8, 1970 Bob and Bobbie Lambeth were united in marriage at the Bethel Church and together were blessed with two sons, Jason and Jared.
He received his Masters and Specialist Degree in Educational Administration at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, MO. Bob was a General Baptist Minister for 55 years. He served as a Pastor at several churches. He later served as a Church Planter and Pastor at Nixa General Baptist Church for 28 years. He had recently retired as Lead Pastor but continued to serve in leadership. He also spent time as an educator, coach, a farmer and a mentor to many.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports of all kinds and most of all spending time with his grandsons. In July he got the opportunity to go fishing in Canada with his son and grandsons! Bob never stopped believing in his passion to lead people to Christ in his work as a Church Planter through Home Missions of the Ozarks.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law, Doris Lambeth; and two brothers-in-law, Doyle Humbyrd and Ron Cummins.
He is survived by his wife, Bobbie; two sons, Jared Comer and Jason and Rena Comer; two grandsons, Chance Dean and Trace Ellis Comer; his siblings and their spouses, Frances Humbyrd, Juanita & Harold Menzies, Jeanie Cummins, John & Brenda Comer and Bill & Barbara Comer; his father-in-law, Hi Lambeth; many nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Visitation Service for Bob will be Monday, August 28, 2023 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. followed by a Celebration Of Life at 7:00 P.M. at the Nixa General Baptist Church, 1011 N. Main St. Nixa, MO 65714. There will also be a Visitation on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. at the Sandy General Baptist Church in Ava, MO (West Hwy. 76). Burial of his cremains will be in the Comer Cemetery at a later time. Officiating will be Rev. Gordon Edwards. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Nixa General Baptist Church or Home Missions of the Ozarks all in care of P.O. Box 911, Nixa, MO 65714. Cremation services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO.
