Nancy Lou Wellman

Nancy Lou Wellman, 90 years, 1 month, and 11 days old, passed away on  August 28, 2023 at Heart of the Ozarks in Ava with her family by her side.

Nancy was born July 17, 1933 in Columbus, Ohio to Theron and Coletta (Rath) Cromwell.

Nancy was a retired Horticulturist and also a Certified Nurses Assistant in nursing homes.

In 1953, Nancy and Jack Wellman were united in marriage and together they were blessed with five children. Their five children were raised in a log cabin in the Hocking Hills in southern Ohio. After raising her family she attended a community college in Daytona Beach, FL and received her Horticulturalist Degree and started her own business in her early fifties. Later in years Nancy became a caregiver as a CNA and a private caregiver.

Nancy was of the Catholic faith. She enjoyed the ocean and her plants. Nancy’s joy was being with her children and grandchildren. Her passion was in helping and caring for people in all capacities. Nancy was a servant.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; three sons, Kraig, Kerry and Kelly Wellman; three siblings, Caroll Wrubelin, Theron “Terry” Cromwell, and Janet Swaisgood; three grandchildren, Misty Wellman, Nathaniel Wellman and Doug Wellman.

She is survived by her children, Kirk Wellman and wife Nancy and Kristie Tate and husband Mark; 11 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; many nieces; nephews and other relatives and friends.

Graveside services for Nancy will be Thursday, August 31, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at the Ava Cemetery, Ava Missouri. Officiating will be Father Leo Arockismary with family readings by her granddaughter, Hannah Tate and son-in-law, Mark Tate.  Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO.
